The Sturgeon Heights School Fundraising Association (SHSFA) was formed in 1976 (as the Sturgeon Heights Recreational Facilities Association) and continues to successfully operate as a result of the hard work of many parent volunteers. The SHSFA is a non-profit association that is responsible for much of the school’s fundraising, and its main objectives are:
The SHSFA receives funds through various avenues such as:
The success of any organization depends largely on its volunteer base and we encourage and welcome parents that may wish to Volunteer at one of our events throughout the year.
Every parent is automatically a member of the Parent Fundraising Association. The SHSFA invites parents to become involved in our monthly meetings, whether in person or virtually. Dates are posted on the School Calendar and emailed ahead of time.
Along with fundraising, the SHSFA has many functions including; advocacy, parent communication, social and extracurricular events and supporting the school through various volunteer opportunities.
Ongoing fundraising opportunities that are happening throughout the year are listed on this website. Please have a quick look to see how they benefit you and the school.
- To work with Parents/Guardians, Students, Sturgeon Heights School Staff, Community and School Division to raise funds to help supply and maintain; educational and recreational equipment and/or supplies for the school and community.
- To organize and facilitate programs the board decides fit within its objects, which promote education, recreational and overall well-being within the school and community.
The SHSFA receives funds through various avenues such as:
- providing regular Hot Lunches to students and staff, which include special food days (Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, etc.) and various other hot lunches from St. Albert restaurants;
- offering various Fundraising Initiatives throughout the year (ex. Purdy's Chocolates, Dance concessions, etc.)
- applying for government grants that may be available from time to time.
